How it works
- Bring valid photo identification and the complete, unsigned document
- We confirm you understand the contents and are swearing or affirming them
- You sign in front of the commissioner, who completes the jurat
- Eligible documents may be commissioned by secure video where permitted

Commissioner or notary, which do I need?
It depends on where the document is going. Documents for use inside Ontario often need a commissioner. Documents going outside Ontario usually need a notary. Ask the receiving organization, or ask us and bring their instructions.
Can you commission a document you did not prepare?
Yes, provided it is complete and you understand it. Commissioning confirms the oath and signature. It is not legal advice on the contents.
