Your Rights
- Paying is a conviction. Demerit points and insurance consequences follow the conviction, not the size of the fine.
- You generally have 15 days to respond, with options that include early resolution or trial.
- You are entitled to disclosure of the officer's notes before trial.
What to do: Do not simply pay. Photograph both sides of the ticket and have it assessed within the 15 days. Reductions are common, and when paying truly is your best option, we say so.
