The chain, in order
The exact route depends on who issued your document, and getting the order wrong is the most common cause of rejected packages.
- Prepare the document: original, or a notarized certified true copy where required
- Authenticate it with Global Affairs Canada or the competent provincial authority
- Commercial documents are first certified through a Canadian Chamber of Commerce or Board of Trade
- Attestation by the Egyptian mission: regular documents are generally processed through the Consulate General in Montreal, and commercial documents through the Embassy in Ottawa
- Certified Arabic translation arranged wherever the receiving authority requires it

Powers of attorney, done to Egyptian requirements
Egyptian missions apply strict format and identification requirements to powers of attorney, including signing before a notary, valid Egyptian identification, and specific wording for certain purposes, and some categories are restricted. We draft in Arabic, arrange notarization, and route the document correctly. Certain acts, such as some marriage and divorce procedures, may require personal attendance at the mission, and we prepare you for those before you commit to anything.
School and university documents: the Cultural Bureau route
Educational documents are processed through the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau in Montreal before any consular step. The package must be assembled precisely, and we assemble all of it:
- Report cards and letters sent by the school itself, as originals or professionally scanned PDFs
- Early grades: a school or board letter confirming the years attended, with the report cards
- Grades 9 to 12, or Secondary 5 in Quebec: the original transcript and diploma
- A money order payable to the Bureau, matching the name on the transcript
- A cover letter and prepaid envelopes in both directions
- Where onward consulate attestation is required, additional envelopes and the consulate's own fee

Common questions
Can I just get an apostille for Egypt?
No. Egypt is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so Egyptian authorities require the traditional chain: Canadian authentication followed by attestation at an Egyptian mission. If your destination is actually a Hague country, see our apostille service instead.
How long does the whole process take?
Commonly several weeks end to end, because Global Affairs Canada or the provincial authority and the Egyptian mission each control their own queue. We quote current realistic timelines at intake and structure the file to avoid every avoidable delay.
Do I have to appear in person?
Many documents proceed entirely by mail. Some acts, including certain marriage and divorce procedures and some powers of attorney, may require attendance at the mission, and we confirm exactly which before you spend anything.
What will it cost?
Government, consular, and Bureau fees are set by those authorities and change without notice, so we confirm the current amounts in writing at intake, together with our flat service fee. No surprises mid-file.
